Stintino

Stintino is a lovely harbour; really two harbours adjacent to each other. Whilst there is little room for visitors in the two inner harbours, there is room to anchor in the protected bay and there is also a harbour/marina extension in the outer harbour which, when I visited, was not complete; no water or electricity. Enquiring locally they have been unable to find a local group to take over the franchise for looking after these berths. In Italy many harbour facilities are run under licence by cooperatives, known as Ormeggiatori, but I suspect that there were too few berths in the harbour to make this a profitable venture this year - but it will come no doubt.. However this year it was free and a favourite place for the skint!! |

Traditional boats at the head of the harbour. From the outer marina it was a good 15 minute walk to the main port and village, a good stretch of the legs. Many boats launched dighies and used the outboard to motor across. I chose to cycle; better exercise and better to explore. The coast here is pretty flat and a 20 minute ride along the coast is well worthwhile. Another advantage of Stintino is that it is only 15 minute under motor from the wonderful anchorage in Cala Yacca or the larger Rada dei Fornelli Go to Cala Yacca |
