San Remo Italy - 18 June 2003

Italy and an entire change of scene. Italian archecture is very different. Gone the pretty villas and pastel colours, here the tall houses leaning inwards so that, at the top of the house, it is almost possible to shake hands with the house across the street. Washing is always hanging out. Even when dining outside at an upmarket restaruant, a view skywards will invariably reveal a pair of nickers hanging out to dry.

We climbed up a seemingly vertical hill to find this church but discovered that we were on the wrong hill. This is the nearest we got to it.

However, don't kick it. This is cappuccino country and the pizza takeaway we had that evening was absolutely delicious.
