Cala Santa Maria - 9 July 2003

This is a deliberately blank page just to prove that life is not all superlatives. Cala Santa Maria is very close to Deadman's Reef and comes well recommended in the Rod Heikell Italian Waters Pilot. However I was disappointed. There was a succession of tourist boats streaming into a very small anchorage, the water was not that clear and I longed to go back to Deadman's reef; so I did and not before time.

Time was also getting short to head for Alghero and a berth for August so next morning I started heading West and had a really good sail to windward in a Force 6 with one reef and 6 rolls. Walkaway does go so much better with her new mainsail. We were heading for Santa Teresa Di Gallura.
