Sanary-sur-Mer 2 June
We are now really into the Cote d'Azur and immediately into another sweet parking spot for the night. The only drawback to Cassis was a road around the port. That said it had all the qualities and was cheap - to date most marinas have charged between 25 and 30 Euro a night; but don't hold your breath. The delightful harbour master tells me the port is run down and he in hiking the charges next year. He also told me happily that after this port everywhere would be full, no one would smile and prices would double!!! (retrospectively he was absolutely right - the glee here is that it is too small for the super yacht.) Sanary church as seen from Walkaway

and so with trepidation lest the harbour Master should prove right, I moved on in the flat calm of the early morning.

Interestingly I learnt that there is little point in moving early because, typical of the Mediterranean there is either a gale or flat calm and not much between. Much prefer the latter but in calm periods you need to wait for the sea breeze at about 11:30 before you have a chance of sailing.
