Golfe
di Rondinara - 3/4 July 2003 |
|
Or as it was on the chart, Golfe di Rondaile. Take you pick. This was a lovely little bay with a brilliant beach and a small restaurant and cafe. It is sheltered from almost all wind directions bar East and was a perfect stopping point. Of course, as these pictures show, this brings its own popularity and there were plenty of other boats, both local and visitors. The water was sparklingly clear and it was an easy swim to the beach. All this was just as well as I was again storm bound for 2 1/2 days. I did try and go early on the second day but returned when I found the wind and sea heavier than expected. Believe you me I have no misplace pride and am entirely content to suffer the knowing stares of the locals! |

Luckily there was even a telephone ahore which is often lacking in remote anchorages. It was here I learnt that Clare was returning from Afghanistan mid July so I was frantically telephoning in my search for a suitable place to leave Walkaway for a 6 week break. Here the Cruising Association's Mediterranean Network (Med Net) on the Internet was fantastic. I asked for help and had 20 odd replies with advice on potential harbours to leave Walkaway within 48 hours. | |
Despite being in Rodinara for longer than expected I was sad to leave; its a super bay. However with the next stop Bonefacio, there was every encouragement to continue. |
