Entering the Rhone delta you are met with an aweful sight; industry industry and more industry along with smells and pollution. What am I doing here one asks oneself. A serious question. Well up a small canal I found this little gem. I forms the bridge between the sea and a major inland waterway which backs all this low coastland formed over the years from silting from this great river. Below to the left you see the small marina, to the right the waterway to the inland sea. |

Martigues is fairly described as a little Venice; it really was worth the effort. | |
Another shot of a canal, all of which were lined with boats, bars and restaurants and all beautifully maintained with flowers and pristine paintwork.
