Marciana

Marciana Marina is again quite lovely. You can go alongside but there is lots of room to anchor and the outlook is considerably improved. Indeed I watched a number of yachts come in and they all had trouble deciding where to berth; some berths require you to anchor some had laid moorings and there was conspicuously no official to help. Elbe was once the fashionable quarter for Elbe and retains much of its 19th century charm. Behind the harbour lies the highest peak on the island giving it a marvelous backdrop. There is an aerial railway to the top but the visibilty was not that good so I gave that a miss. First Walkaway at anchor in the harbour then .. |

my private landing spot under a very smart restaurant........ |

Walkaway as seen from the restaurant. Worth eating here just to have the pleasure of overlooking your own boat. Swim ashore, row ashore, here it seemed the world was at my service.
NOW TO BASTIA to which I had a good sail. It is the nearest port to Isola de Elbe and a good but pleasant day's sail. |
