CADAQUES - 22 MAY 2003
I sailed from Estartit in flat calm before the Spanish rise to use the morning calm that is generally experienced before the Northerly reestablishes itself for the day. The forecast was for NW Force 6 was conspicuously absent so good for the 15 mile move to Cadaques - wrong. At the half way point the NW wind hit us and we had a cold and very wet motor sail windward in 30kts of headwind. However when we crawled in at 1030 it all seemed worth it. Cadaques is lovely. A totally unspoilt mediterranean town, all white with NO high rise concrete. I have sailed all the way from Gibraltar and this is the first I have found. I picked up a buoy and Walks and I tried to dried out. Walkaway at a buoy at Cadaques

Wonderfully maintained, not a blemish. Very few tourists but plenty of activity, cafes, bars and restaurants.

The curch at Cadaques

This place is picturesque to the extreme so it is no surprise that the place is full of artists and little galleries of local paintings. They are following a good history - Salvador Dahli had a house on the hills just above Cadaques and frequented the village.
